Kip Acoose charged after death at Sakimay

On Sunday, September 2nd, 2018, at approximately 12:18 a.m., Broadview RCMP received a complaint of a vehicle vs pedestrian collision on Sakimay First Nation.
When RCMP arrived at the scene, a 57 year old adult male from Sakimay First Nation was located deceased.
The vehicle involved in the accident had fled the scene of the collision but was later located at a residence on Sakimay First Nation.
Broadview RCMP along with the assistance of the Forensic Traffic Reconstructionist, Yorkton Forensic
Investigation Section and Yorkton General Investigation Section identified an adult male from Sakimay First Nation as being responsible for the collision.
The involved vehicle was seized and a search warrant was sworn to process the vehicle for evidence. Kip Acoose has been charged with one count of Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident Involving Death S. 252(1.3)(a) of the Criminal Code. ACOOSE has been remanded into custody and will appear in Broadview Provincial Court on September 5th, 2018.
