Saskatchewan Senator Denise Batters confirmed Wednesday afternoon that she will attend the Pro-Resource Rally set for Saturday, February 16 in Moosomin.

She joins Leader of the Opposition Andrew Scheer in attending the event.

Invitations have been sent to the premiers of Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and New Brunswick to attend. The only premier who has responded to the invitation so far is Alberta Premier Rachel Notley, who said she cannot attend.

The Moosomin Pro-Resource Rally is set for 11 am Saturday, February 16. It will take place at the new IJack assembly plant just north of Moosomin on Highway 8

Senator Batters, who has represented Saskatchewan in the Senate since 2013, spoke about Bill C-69 at the Regina Rally 4 Resources in early January.

At that event, she called C-69 “The anti-pipeline bill."

“We know the oil industry downturn, which has devastated Alberta, has also harmed Saskatchewan’s economy," she said at that event. "We are fighting for pipelines, and for resources development, and against Trudeau’s do-nothing, costly carbon tax.”
