Input sought at Sept 17 chamber meeting

A consultant working on Moosomin’s new Official Community Plan will be at the September 17 meeting of the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce and will be looking for input from local businesses.

Megan Jones of P3A Partnership will be present at the meeting, providing an overview of the OCP and zoning bylaw process and outline what input she is looking for from chamber members.

The Official Community Plan Jones is working on will set out the direction of Moosomin for the future and identify priorities and opportunities for community growth. The zoning plan will help determine how that growth is handled.

RECC proposal
Moosomin recreation director Mike Schwean will present a proposal on establishing a RECC Committee involving Moosomin Parks and Recreation, the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce, Moosomin Economic Development, and community groups.

The proposal is to have one committee that would help with major community events.

Detailed information on the proposal will be sent out to Chamber members in advance of the September 17 meeting.

Spookarama
There will also be discussion of Spookarama at the September 17 Chamber of Commerce meeting. Spookarama is an annual Halloween Dance organized between McNaughton High School, the Student Council, the Chamber of Commerce, and the RCMP. The dance is free to attend and prizes are offered as a way to keep the kids at the event and out of trouble on Halloween night.

Cork and Bone
Jarrod Slugoski of Cork and Bone Bistro will attend the September 17 meeting to introduce himself and explain the plan for Cork and Bone Bistro, opening soon in Moosomin.

The September meeting is set for 11:45 am Tuesday, September 17 at the Canalta Hotel meeting room in Moosomin.


Candidate meeting Oct 8
The Chamber of Commerce is planning an all-candidates meeting for October 8 over the lunch hour at the Canalta Hotel.
All candidates for the federal election in Souris- Moose Mountain will be invited to attend.
All candidates meetings are an opportunity for chamber members to get to know the candidates, and for candidates to get to know the community.
