Death due to exposure at South Indian Lake

On Thursday, January 30, 2020, at approximately 6:35 pm, South Indian Lake RCMP received a report of a disturbance at a residence located in the community.

Officers were advised that a 26-year-old male, from South Indian Lake, was outside his residence and attempting to gain entry into the home.

Officers attended to the location but the 26-year-old male had fled the scene on foot.

Efforts to locate the 26-year-old male in the community continued throughout the evening and into the following day however these attempts were unsuccessful.

On Friday, January 31, at approximately 10:10 pm, the 26-year-old male was located deceased approximately five kilometres from the community on the shore of South Island.

Although no criminality is suspected in the death, the investigation remains ongoing as RCMP await the results of the autopsy.

South Indian Lake RCMP along with the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office continue to investigate.
