Saskatchewan election officially under way

Saskatchewan's provincial election is now officially under way.


At the request of Premier Scott Moe, Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty has dissolved the Legislative Assembly and issued a proclamation directing the issuance of the Writs of Election commencing Saskatchewan’s 29th General Election.

Election day for Saskatchewan’s 29th General Election is on Monday, October 26.

Only the Saskatchewan Party and the NDP have candidates nominated in the Moosomin, Cannington, and Melville-Saltcoats ridings.

In Moosomin, Saskatchewan Party MLA Steven Bonk faces Ken Burton of the NDP. In the 2016 election, Steven Bonk was elected with 72.3 per cent of the vote and the NDP was seond with 14.5 per cent of the vote.

In Cannington, Daryl Harrison of the Saskatchewan Party faces Dianne Twietmeyer of the NDP. In the 2016 election, the Saskatchewan Party won Cannington with 84.4 per cent of the vote. The NDP was second with 8.8 per cent.

In Melville-Saltcoats, which includes the Esterhazy, Tantalllon and Spy Hill areas, Saskatchewan Party MLA and cabinet minister Warren Kaeding faces Bonnie Galenzoski of the NDP. In 2016, Warren Kaeding won the seat with 72.7 per cent of the vote. The NDP was second with 21.8 per cent of the vote.
