Man charged with murder after Yellow Grass death

37-year-old Kevin Obina Okafor of Yellow Grass is charged with first degree murder, flight from peace officer,amd dangerous operation of a motor vehicle following the death of Abbie Spear at Yellow Grass

Okafor will appear in Regina Provincial Court on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 9:30 am.

Okafor was arrested in the Swift Current area on April 20, 2017 in relation to the death of 33-year-old Abbie Speir of Yellow Grass. The next of kin have been notified. The victim and the accused are known to each other.

Abbie Speir has consented to her name being released and has also provided two photos for the media. The family would ask that the media uses one of these if they choose to release a photo and your respect of this request is appreciated.

On Thursday April 20, 2017 at 8:40 p.m., Milestone RCMP along with Fire Services and EMS responded to a complaint of a fire at a residence in Yellow Grass, SK.

An adult female was located at the residence and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
