The town of Moosomin is holding a public meeting for this Tuesday, April 24 at the Conexus MCC Centre.

Mayor Larry Tomlinson will provide a brief update on what council has identified as priorities, and what council is working on.

Council members decided to hold the meeting to keep up communication with the public.

The meeting is set for 7 pm at the MCC Centre.

Councillor Murray Gray says the idea for a public meeting came up when the Chamber of Commerce hosted a candidate forum prior to the last municipal election.

“It was one of the things we talked about when we had the public forum,” he said. “It was suggested as a way to keep up communication with the public, to give people a chance to question us, to give us ideas, to let us know how we’re doing.

“We want to hear how we’re doing. We want to hear what people are thinking is important for us to be focusing on.

“We will maybe learn some new things that we need to look at.”

Mayor Larry Tomlinson and Councillors Chris Davidson, Garry Towler, Jason Miller, Teddi Taylor, Murray Gray, and Ron Fisk will attend the meeting.

Most of the meeting will be a bearpit-style session where the public can ask questions of the mayor and councillors.
Sinc Harrison will act as emcee for the event.

Councillor Gray said he is looking forward to the meeting.

“I’m looking forward to it, to hear what people have to say,” he said.

“It’s a chance just to be up front with the public, keep them in the loop, and keep them involved.”
