Kenneth Grant Longman of Moosomin, Sask. passed away May 31, 2017 at Regina General Hospital.

Ken was born March 1, 1952 in Maryfield, Sask. the third son of Browne and Ruth (Dayman) Longman. He was raised on the farm at Maryfield and began working at the potash mine in Rocanville in 1971. This is where he met Wendy (Gould) and they were married August 30, 1975 in Rocanville. Ken and Wendy have resided in Moosomin their entire married life; Ken working at the potash mine in Rocanville until his retirement in 2007 and Wendy a nurse at the hospital.

One of Ken’s greatest passions was hunting and he spent many years tromping through the bush with his bow and arrows until a hunting accident in 2001. It was the love of the hunt and nature more than the hunting as was evident by the stories and pictures of animals and not meat that he usually brought home. He also enjoyed golfing, watching TV, took great pride in his lawn and spent hours tending it and of course, the Red Barn.

Ken’s family was extremely important to him; he was very proud of his daughter Melissa, and sons Randy and Travis but by far his favorite pastime was being a Grandpa to Emmett, Ivy, Levi, and Oliver.

Ken was predeceased by his father, Browne. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Wendy; daughter Melissa; son Randy (Jacqueline); son Travis (Shannon); grandchildren Emmett, Ivy, Levi, and Oliver; mother Ruth Longman; brothers Doug (Diana); Bob (Kathy); Cy (Christine); Reg and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held at Moosomin Armoury on Friday, June 9 with Dawn Wilson officiating. Interment was in Maryfield cemetery.

If friends so desire, a donation in Ken’s memory can be made to Moosomin and District Health Care Foundation-Palliative Care.
