Denise Willa Clarke was born in Moosomin on February 24, 1966 to Dennis and Willa Clarke. Denise spent her younger days growing up on the family farm north west of Rocanville where she enjoyed all the pleasures of farm life with her younger brother William and various childhood friends from around the community. She went to school in Rocanville doing her best not to draw too much attention to herself. Not a difficult task when you had friends like Kim and April to steal the spotlight.

Denise met Nick Hudym in 1982. They spent every available hour together, often seen driving through the valleys in his old army jeep. Her hair so tangled at times she often thought she might have to cut it. They were married in 1984, shortly after Denise graduated from high school. They soon purchased a home and started raising a family. Aura-Lee was born in 1987 followed by Brandon in 1990.

Denise placed great importance on holiday time, making sure that the yearly camping trip to mountains of B.C. was not missed. A majority of their holidays were spent in Blanket Creek Provincial Park near Revelstoke B.C., where they eventually started volunteering as campground hosts. This eventually led to winter vacation trips to the Dominican Republic for both holiday enjoyment and eventually visiting hospitals, orphanages and senior homes with school and medical supplies. Finally purchasing a vacation home on Vancouver island with future plans of retiring to B.C. some day.

As the kids grew older, Denise found herself becoming involved in groups such as Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, and Air Cadets (which she also enjoyed as a teenager).

As most of these events often involved her husband Nick, she was often referred to as “Nick’s Wife”, something that always angered her. She used to love taking him to her Home Care Christmas parties where he was always referred to as “Denise’s Husband”.

With the joining of Brandon and Allisa came grandchildren, Markus and Jax. Her absolute pride and joy. She was always so proud of them and their accomplishments. She always had a cookie in her purse and a story to read to them before bed time.

Denise had a love for animals that started from dressing up the farm cat as a child to rescuing abandoned and neglected dogs, always having two or more pets of some kind running around the house.

Many of you may remember Denise’s participation in the local Karate club, rising to the rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt as she both instructed and competed in the surrounding community.

Others may still remember Denise as a Home Care Aid, a career that she enjoyed for over 18 years, forced to retire as her Muscular Dystrophy made things more difficult to manage.

Denise is survived by her husband Nick, daughter Aura-Lee, son Brandon (Allisa), grandsons Markus and Jax, her mother Willa Clarke, mother-in-law Marylyn Hudym, brothers-in-Law Rod Hudym (Charlene), Darrin Hudym (Rita), Kelly Hudym (Elaine), Warren Hudym (Roxanne). She is predeceased by her father Dennis Clarke and her brother, William Clarke, and Father-in-Law Nick Hudym.

Denise will sure to be missed by all those whose lives she has touched with her love and kindness.
