It is with deep sadness and heartache that we announce Carole’s passing at the age of 69 years after courageously fighting with cancer for nine long years. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family that she loved so unconditionally.

Carole was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan to Joseph and Marion (Mae) Tochor on September 5, 1948. She and younger brother Robert grew up on the family farm outside Stockholm, and attended Wales public school before transitioning to Esterhazy for high school.

Carole married the love of her life, Erwin, in Esterhazy on July 20, 1968, thereby inheriting six more brothers and three sisters. They started their life together farming outside Wapella. Carole loved living on the farm despite all the hard work it brought with it, including driving the farm equipment and raising cattle, chickens, pigs, and horses. Carole especially enjoyed cultivating and combining.

In January 1970, Carole and Erwin welcomed the first of six children into their home. In 1994, they moved to a farm outside of Stockholm to be closer to the Tochor family farm. In 2003, they decided it was time to enjoy some leisure time so moved away from the farm into their new home in Stockholm.

Carole’s children, their spouses, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was excitedly awaiting the birth of another grandchild. She adored spending time with her grandchildren; the more cuddles she could sneak in, the better. Carole was also blessed with an abundance of friends, who meant the world to her. Her favorite hobbies were cooking, baking, vegetable and flower gardening, and playing cards.

Carole was predeceased by her parents Joe and Mae Tochor; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Julia Flaman; uncle John Tochor; brother-in-law Freddie Flaman; and son-in-law Jamie Deobald. She leaves to mourn, her husband of 49 years, Erwin; her children Aaron (Joelle), Karen Synesael (Jasey), Jason (Melissa), Allison Rice (Derek), Jocelyn Johnson (Dale), and Raeleen Matt (Chris); her grandchildren Mitchell, Brandyn, Amanda, Ashley, Nicholas, Brenna, Jacie, Noah, Addyson, Anthony, Nate, and baby bump; her brother Robert Tochor (MaryLee); and all the brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends she cherished.

Carole will forever be remembered for her strength and for leaving a legacy of family, hospitality, community service, compassion, love, and laughter.

Our sincere thanks to the staff and volunteers at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon and St. Anthony’s Hospital in Esterhazy. The patience and loving care you showed to Carole and to the family have meant more to us than we can possibly express.
