In loving memory of Lena Doell, who passed away on December 22, 2017 at the U of A Hospital in Edmonton, Alta.

Lena was born on February 4, 1926 to parents John and Annie Dahl on the homestead at Main Centre, Sask. She was the sixth of eight children.

She married Wilfred Doell on March 26, 1949 and farmed at Davidson, Sask. In 1962 they purchased the farm at Kelso, Sask and then moved into Moosomin in 1973. She owned Lena’s Sewing Centre in Rocanville and later her catering business Homestyle Catering.

Lena relocated to Edmonton in 2003 to live at Shephard’s Care senior’s appt and in 2011 to St. Thomas Health Centre assisted living complex.

Lena is survived by her children: Lyle (Edith) of Red Deer, Alta.; Gwen (Jack) Christian of Meadow Lake, Sask.; Jennifer (Dave) Szmutko of Sherwood Park, Alta. and Murray (Jennifer) of Kipling, Sask.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Pete (Anne) Dahl of Saskatoon, Sask. and Dan (Kathy) Dahl and sister Anne of Surrey, B.C.

Lena will forever be remembered for her strength and for leaving a legacy of hospitality, kindness and love for her family, friends and Saviour.

A sincere thank you to all her friends from the Moosomin area that kept in contact with her when she moved to Edmonton. She so appreciated all the phone calls and visits.

A memorial service was held on December 30, 2017 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home in Edmonton, Alta.
