Margaret Kathleen Preston was born to Donald and Blanche (Hall) McQueen on October 30, 1920, the eldest of three children. She was raised on the farm, going to elementary school at Riga and high school at Kelso, Saskatchewan.

She married Arthur Preston on July 23, 1942 in Kelso United Church; they farmed at Kelso and Doonside. She became a member of the Legion Auxiliary in Fairlight, SK in 1973 and when they moved to Moosomin in August 1975, Margaret transferred to the Legion Auxiliary in Moosomin. As a Legion Auxiliary member, she volunteered to assist with Meals on Wheels, served at funeral lunches and assisted at teas and bake sales. She was very involved as a member of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Grand Matron.

Margaret passed away at Golden Prairie Home, Indian Head, Saskatchewan on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the age of 97 years. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Blanche McQueen, her brother James (Jim) McQueen and his wife Florence (Flo) and by her husband Arthur Preston.

Art and Marg raised seven girls. Left to mourn are daughter Mary (David) MacDonald and sons Scott (Amber) and their son Malcolm and Britton (Kelly) and their daughters Aubrey and Hayley; daughter Virginia Preston, daughter Peggy Preston and sons Harley (Kelly) Kaczmarski and their daughter Brea and son Brenden, Jeff (Sue) Austin and their sons Spencer and Noah; daughter Frances Brady and her sons Joseph (Shaina Oh) and their son Mason, and Owen (Colleen Derksen) and Frances’ daughter Jessica (Stuart) Boyd; daughter Karen (Reed) Peddie and their daughter Christie (James) Hislop and their son Liam and son Brandon (Danielle Furneaux), daughter Leila (Bill) Christ and their daughter Kali and her son Keegan; daughter Theresa (Darcy) Olson and their sons Conrad (Jordyn) and Preston; brother Donald, known as Danny (Eva), and many nephews and nieces.
Special thanks to the staff at Golden Prairie Home in Indian Head for their excellent care of Margaret for the past five years as well as the compassion shown to her and to the family during her final days.

Funeral services will be held from G. R. Carscadden Funeral Chapel – Moosomin at 2 pm on Saturday, July 21, 2018 with Dawn Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens—Moosomin.
