Archie Walfrid Luhtala passed away suddenly at the age of 91 years. His service of remembrance was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, New Finland on Monday January 7, 2019 with Pastor Vivian Roberts officiating.

Archie was raised in New Finland, but worked in bush camps in Ontario, as a telephone linesman, and at an airplane factory. He worked also on the shaft of K2 Mine and ran ‘Archie’s Grocery’ in Tantallon.
In 1970 he moved to the old Anti Kangas farm where he spent his happiest days with his wife Florence and children Stewart, Linda and Ralph.

He retired to Whitewood in 1999 with his wife Florence who predeceased him in 2017.

A quiet, sweet man, he will be missed by all who knew him.

Archie was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mary Luhtala; his son, Ralph Walter; brothers-in-law Henry Roper and Lyndon Christian; sister-in-law Edna Mercer, and his dear wife of 56 years, Florence.

He leaves to mourn his passing: his son Stewart (Maria Ziorio) of Stony Plain, AB; daughter Linda (Dwight) Dancsok of Esterhazy, SK; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Christian (Shallen Mack) Jaden, Kieran and Kylan of Cold Lake, AB; Nicholas (Reba Brataschuk) of Lloydminster, AB; Sarah (Troy Gaehring) Dylan and Brooklynn of Didsbury, AB; Flora (AJ Regular) of Rocanville, SK; sisters-in-law Mary-Anne Roper and Doreen Palmer and families of Vancouver, BC, and DeLoris (John) Christian of Churchbridge, SK; brother-in-law James (Betty) Mercer of Regina, SK; his special aunt, Elvie Denet of Whitewood, SK; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
