With great sadness, the Lawless family wishes to announce that, on Friday, July 5, 2019, Robert Warren Lawless passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 48 years. Rob was born on November 25, 1970, and loved his childhood on the family farm near Maryfield, Sask. After graduating from Maryfield High School, he attended the University of Saskatchewan, earning a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1992. He was then employed and excelled in commodity trading. He met his future wife, Barb Landrie, at a competing trading company in Saskatoon in 1993. She was immediately charmed by his ambition and good looks. They were married in 1998. Rob’s career took them to Vancouver, Calgary, and finally back to Saskatoon where they built their dream home on an acreage south of the city. Rob and Barb have three children, Hannah (2002), Mason (2004) and Emerson (2007). For the past 22 years, Rob and Barb, along with their dedicated staff, have operated a successful commodity trading company called Tradex Commodity Group Inc.

Rob’s smile could light up an entire room, his laugh was infectious and he had a pet name for many of those closest to him. He was always a hands-on Dad, attending important events, volunteering at the school, and serving as President of the community association. His love for his family was immeasurable, and therefore his passing leaves us with aching hearts. In the past few years, Rob battled serious health problems, but he was always determined and optimistic. The family would like to thank the first responders, support workers, nurses, and doctors at the hospitals in Saskatoon who treated Rob over the years. Their support was invaluable and appreciated.

In addition to his loving wife, Barb, he is survived by his children, Hannah, Mason, and Emerson; his parents, Keith and Carol Lawless; his brother, Brian (Tara); sister Heather (Barry) Fowler; nieces Chanda and Callie Fowler; and nephew Noah Lawless; his parents-in-law, Robert and Jean Landrie; sisters-in-law, Jen (Brock) Dergousoff and Lisa (Shawn Ward) Landrie; as well as nieces and nephews, Maren, Morgan, Kristen, Evan, Gary and Sam. He also leaves behind many special friends and business associates who have supported him over the years. Rob will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Saying good-bye has been very hard, but we believe he is at peace and no longer suffering. In respecting Rob’s wishes to not have a funeral, there will be a private graveside gathering of immediate family at a later date.

The family would be honoured if you would pay your respects or share a fond memory on Rob’s Facebook page. All friend requests will be approved to facilitate posts. You may also send your notes to tributes2rob@gmail.com or to share memories and condolences, visit www.parkfuneral.ca “Obituaries-Guestbook”.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Rob’s name to one of the following organizations that were important to him: “Saskatoon Cancer Centre”, “Close to Home Campaign for Hospice and End-of-Life Care at St. Paul’s Hospice”, or to a charity of your choice.
