Mary was born at Moosomin to John and Christina (McPhee) Currie. She was raised on the family farm at Red Jacket in the loving embrace of her large and often boisterous family. As the eldest of eight she could be known to express her displeasure but would also be the first to enjoy a good laugh. Having a baby on her lap or a kitten in her arms brought her great joy. She was also delighted when she found a new “softie” to supply her with an extra cup of coffee.

In 1984 Mary became a client of Pipestone Kin-Ability where she happily found her own purpose and a circle of friends. Mary attended Kin-Ability past the age of 65 when she reluctantly “retired” due to health restrictions.

After Christina’s passing, Mary made her home at Bryant House and later Pipestone Place. She enjoyed many outings with her other family. In January of 2005 home became Moosomin Nursing Home and later Long-Term Care where she received excellent and compassionate care until her quiet passing.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Christina and John, youngest brother Paul and brother-in-law Carl Hunter. She is survived by Alex (Linda), Allen (Nicky), Peter (Marge), Geri (Tim Marushak), Chris Hunter and Kay (Gerald) Arsenault. She will be fondly remembered by her 17 nieces and nephews and their families including her 34 great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church south of Wapella, Sask. on Saturday, August 3 at 11 am. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Pipestone Kin-Ability Centre—P.O. Box 1444 Moosomin, Sask. S0G 3N0 or to Moosomin and District Heathcare Foundation/Long Term Care Recreation in memory of Marylynn.
