Warren William Fyke was born to parents Wallace and Blanche Fyke on May 27, 1938 in Moosomin Sask. He passed away January 22, 2020 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina after a brief illness.

Warren grew up working on the family farm until his mother bought a service station in 1960, this business is fondly remembered as ‘Blanche’s Grill.” Warren worked at the service station during this time and then married Dianne in 1963, they had two children Randy and Heather.

The service station was sold in 1974 and Blanche purchased the “Solo” store on Main Street, and although Warren helped out there. He also started working for John Thomas who owned the local Funeral Home and Ambulance Service. Warren has continued his training and completed the EMT program in 1979. Gary and Jean Backlin had purchased the Ambulance business in 1976 and Warren continued to work for them. During this time Warren also gave his time as a volunteer for Moosomin Fire Department. In 1980 Warren started a career at the Rocanville Potash Mine where he worked until his retirement in 2003.

After Warren retired. He was just as busy, he was the go-to person in town for smaller welding jobs as he also had the gift of being an ornamental welder. Many of Warren’s welding jobs include railings, planters and he even assisted in the building of the Cemetery gates in Manor, Sask. along with his father-in-law and brother-in-law.

In 2017 Warren moved into long-term care due to dementia, although his short term memory was declining he still continued to enjoy his coffee breaks, conversations about past days and still had those witty remarks.
