Kathleen Hazel Brown passed away May 15, 2020, at the age of 88. Born in Moosomin, November 26, 1931, she was the eldest daughter of Garner and Lilla Higgins.

In 1950 she married Murray Brown and began life as an active farm wife and homemaker at their farm near Wapella, where she and Murray raised their five sons. Although she was not raised on a farm, Hazel came to love it, especially her amazing garden. Hazel and Murray were active members of their community, neighbours who were always there to lend a hand, and dedicated farmers—Hazel’s heart remained forever on the farm even after retiring to town.

Retiring to Moosomin was a big change so she brought a bit of the farm with her to the new backyard garden and then to her small front garden at Knotty Pine. In town she was able to enjoy time with her sister Sharon, her friends and neighbours with trips to the Red Barn and Tim Horton’s. She enjoyed regular visits with her family—her beloved boys, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who came to visit and enjoy her company.

Hazel was predeceased by her loving husband Murray, both parents (Garner and Lilla), her brother Gordon Higgins and sister Joan Carpendale.

She leaves to mourn her sons, of whom she was so proud—Lane (Deanna), Gary (Jan), Craig (Bonita), David (Sue), and Gordon (Tammy). She also leaves her sister Sharon Wood (Allan), her beloved grandchildren Jason, Nicole, Katie, Lauren, Emily, Brandi, Amber, Colton, Alie, August, Angel, Alex, Kara and Sydney, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held later. For those who wish to honour her memory donations may be made to the Moosomin and District Health Care Foundation.
