Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes conducted ground searches as part of the ongoing investigation into the February 10, 2023 homicide that occurred in the Qu'Appelle Valley south of the Stockholm/Esterhazy area.

On Thursday, RCMP searched the farmyard where the homicide occurred.

"These areas were previously searched during initial investigation," RCMP told the World-Spectator. "Investigators wanted to re-search them now that the snow has melted."

"The investigation is active and ongoing and to preserve its integrity, we have no additional details to share at this time." RCMP said.

On February 10, Esterhazy and Broadview RCMP received a report of a break and enter and homicide at a residence approximately 20 kilometers south of Stockholm and Esterhazy.

Three males broke into a residence. An adult male who lived at the residence was located deceased at the scene by police.

Sketches and descriptions were released of three male suspects, who are still at large. An adult female was injured and was transported to hospital for medical treatment at that time, and was later released.

Investigation determined the suspects drove a vehicle to the scene and left in it after stealing and setting the home owner’s vehicle on fire (in previous releases RCMP advised the suspects stole the home owner’s vehicle and left the scene. The stolen vehicle was located abandoned on a nearby grid road, on fire).

RCMP do not have further descriptors of this suspect vehicle to provide. Investigators know the suspect vehicle traveled east and west of the intersection of Highways #637 and #9 after the homicide occurred.

Items stolen from residence; ongoing investigation

Three long-barreled firearms and a significant amount of ammunition was stolen from the victim’s residence. These items were being stored appropriately prior to them being taken.
