LED lighting going in at Mike Schwean Arena

At the Moosomin Town Council meeting on Wednesday, Rec Director Mike Schwean asked for a motion from council to proceed with LED lighting at the Mike Schwean Arena. The estimate for the lighting is $40,000 with Nixon Electric doing the work. Schwean said the lighting upgrade will be part of a larger upgrade that is going to take place at the arena over the next few years and hopefully be complete by 2028. Council approved the LED lighting upgrade.

Land being rezoned
The town passed a motion to rezone land at 806 Park Street—where the Co-op Feed Mill used to be located— from Commercial to Community Service.
The request was made by the Dan and Olga McCarthy Foundation, and council made the decision to proceed with the rezoning at no cost to the land owners.

Shed donated for Bradley Park
Council passed a motion to accept a donated 32-foot by 48-foot shed to store equipment at Bradley Park. Rec Director Mike Schwean said the shed would be used to store equipment that is currently sitting outside. The shed was donated by Dan and Olga McCarthy. He also provided an estimate of $24,000 for a concrete slab for the shed to sit on. Council approved the costs of moving and site preparation for the shed.

Golf World named after Pat McDonald
Council passed a motion to name Golf World at Bradley Park PM Golf World after Pat McDonald for his financial contribution to Golf World.

Water main being replaced on Henry Street
Council approved purchasing the materials needed for a water main repair on Henry Street. Town Foreman Mike Stein presented a quote for the materials for $40,000.
