53 firearms stolen in two break-ins

RCMP are investigating the theft of multiple firearms in Oakbank and Souris in two separate break-ins
On January 14, 2019, at approximately 3:00 am, Oakbank RCMP responded to a call of a break and enter at a residence in the RM of Springfield. Suspects entered a garage and stole 12 handguns from a locked gun safe and fled. Officers attended the scene and made patrols but did not locate the suspects.
At approximately 10:20 am on the same day, Souris RCMP received a report of break and enter at a residence in Souris where suspect(s) had entered the residence and stole 41 long guns. It appears that the theft had occurred sometime within the last month.
It is not believed that the thefts are related at this time.
The thefts are being actively investigated by Oakbank and Souris RCMP with assistance from the Forensic Identification Unit.
