Moosomin RCMP have issued the following statement about a bear that was sighted in Moosomin Tuesday evening.

There is a small bear that was seen wandering around town last night in Moosomin.

Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management members were out of the community and were not in a position to attend.

Moosomin RCMP members patrolled at their request but did not locate the bear and it remains outstanding.

No tracks were located, and the photo shows it with no footwear, so we can assume it's walking around bear foot.

So far, the bear has not caused any havoc or injury, and it's hoped to have left the area.

This notice is to advise SERM is actively working on deploying a bear trap so the bear can be captured and relocated if it remains in the area.

If you see this bear or it's tracks and it is not a public safety issue, contact their hotline at 1-800-667-7561.

If there is an immediate threat to life, please call 911.

In the meantime to minimize the potential of attracting the bear, please ensure you have garbage stored property and secure any and all picnic baskets.

Thank you, and a reminder of the Town Hall tonight at the Canalta. 630 PM
