Toddler missing from southwest Saskatchewan has been found

A toddler missing from Aneroid in southwestern Saskatchewan was found safe and sound by volunteer searchers Tuesday morning.

On Monday,, July 22, 2019 at 9:00 p.m., Ponteix RCMP Detachment received a report of a missing male toddler, 2-year-old Courtlund Alcide Stuart Barrington-Moss.

Investigators were advised the child was last seen while attending a family gathering at the farm immediately north of the village of Aneroid, SK, just north of the Aneroid junction.

This property is the first farm on the grid road after the town of Aneroid and is located on the west side of the grid road.

Family members advised RCMP officers they immediately searched the area surrounding the house and yard and all outbuildings on the farm as soon as the child was missing.

Investigators from Ponteix and Assiniboia RCMP Detachments joined the search efforts and requested the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog from Swift Current RCMP and additional officers from the Swift Current RCMP Detachment, including an RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft utilizing FLIR technology. STARS also assisted with the air search and local Ministry of Environment officers assisted with the ground search.

Volunteer searchers found the boy Tuesday morning when they heard a giggling sound. The boy was found waist-deep in a mud hole but totally unharmed.
