On Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Punnichy RCMP received the report of a break-and-enter and theft at a residence. A single officer from the detachment responded and met the homeowner at the residence.

When the police officer arrived, he began the investigation by observing the damage to the property and ensuring the residence was empty.

The homeowner reported two firearms missing and that the residence and vehicles were damaged with what appeared to be bullet holes.

The homeowner believed the break-and-enter happened earlier in the day.

While in the small basement of the residence with the homeowner, the police officer walked into a dark storage room and found two male youths armed with rifles pointing directly at him.

The officer was able to back out of the room and get the homeowner to safety before calling for backup.

From upstairs, the officer was able to communicate with the youths and convince them surrender.

After the two youths discarded the firearms, the officer took them into custody without incident. No one was injured.

Three loaded firearms were located with the youth.

Two male youths are facing numerous charges and are being held in custody until their next court appearance on Monday, Sept. 23, 2018, at in Provincial Youth Court in Regina.
