Third suspect sought in Russell home invasion
Victim taken to hospital in Winnipeg for treatment

RCMP have two suspects in custody and are seeking a third suspect, Christopher Benn, in relation to a home invasion in the town of Russell.
On December 22, 2019, at approximately 1:30 am, Russell RCMP received a report of a home invasion at an apartment complex located in Russell, MB.
Officers attended the location and met with the 32-year-old female victim who required medical attention.
She advised officers that three males had entered her apartment and violently assaulted her while she slept.
She was transported to a hospital in Winnipeg, and has now been released and recovering.
Officers arrested one suspect close to the scene carrying a stolen item from the apartment.
Elroy Lee Benn, 40, from Bird Tail First Nation, has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery and Breaking and Entering. He has been remanded in custody.
Police also later arrested and charged Harley Hunter Mecas, 30-years-of age from Waywayseecappo First Nation, with Aggravated Assault, Robbery and Breaking and Entering. He is also remanded in custody.
A warrant of arrest has been issued for the third suspect. Christopher Leonard Benn, 32-years-of age from Waywayseecappo First Nation. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery and Breaking and Entering. He is believed to be in Winnipeg.
