Two fatal collisions in Manitoba over the weekend

Manitoba RCMP respond to two fatal collisions over the weekend

On June 25th, at approximately 12:43 pm, Stonewall RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 7, north of Teulon.

The initial investigation has determined that a pickup truck left the road and struck a telephone pole. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, an 81 year old male from the RM of Armstrong, was transported to hospital in serious condition. The driver later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

The investigation into the cause of this collision is ongoing.

On June 25th, at approximately 1:30 pm, Amaranth RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 16 at road 54 West.

The initial investigation has determined that a van was travelling south on Highway 16, a single-lane highway, and attempted to pass a vehicle. The van then collided head-on with a north bound semi-truck pulling two trailers. The driver of the van, a 23 year old male from the RM of Westlake-Gladstone, was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the semi was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Speed is considered a factor in this collision.
