Moosomin will have a new mayor in October.

Mayor Don Bradley, who has been involved in municipal politics for 25 years, decided not to run again, and Larry Tomlinson has been elected mayor by acclamation. He will officially take over the duties of mayor after election day, Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Tomlinson said in an interview Friday that he is looking forward to working with the new council after Oct. 24. "The first job will be to sort out the departments and figure out who's in charge of what," Tomlinson said. "The town has a good committee structure, and once we know who's elected, it's a matter of figuring out who will work best on the different committees."

Tomlinson said he's ready for his responsibilities as mayor.

"I was pretty involved as the chair of public works and recreation, and I will still be involved-I believe in being hands-on.

"I know I'll be busy as mayor, but I already spend a lot of time on town business, so I'm ready for it."
He said he's happy to see so many people running for council.

"I'm looking forward to working with a new council," he said. "However it turns out, it will be an excellent group. It looks like we've got some really good candidates."
