Rita Desaulniers, wife of the late George Desaulniers was born March 5, 1932 in Morris Manitoba. She was the youngest of ten children born to Frank and Ismeria Landry.

In 1950 she married George Desaulniers and they started their family with the birth of daughters Louise and Doris. In 1958 they moved to Moosomin, Sask. where George found employment with Trans Canada Pipelines.

One year later their son Gerald was born followed by their youngest daughter Michelle.

On the family farm just north of Moosomin they lived happily, with Rita often taking waitress or bartending jobs in town or supplementing the family income by taking on cleaning jobs for local businesses. She also turned her hand to her own brand of farming with chickens, geese, turkeys, pigs, and of course her unforgettable milk cow “Nelly”. All this went along with the most amazing garden which grew and produced enough to feed everyone, and helped to raise this growing family. She even grew and sold fresh raspberries which will be remembered by many of the folks in Moosomin.

Rita also showed her strength and love while caring for George in the years after his diagnosis of MS, a challenge they both met bravely.

In her retirement years Rita, along with her sister--in-law Gabie became what the family loved to call The Travelling Grannies with the two ladies enjoying some trips and the family enjoying the tales of their antics.

Rita lived a simple life and lived with the wellbeing of her family always in mind. She constantly showed them her love through provision of good hard work for food, traditions that will not be forgotten, and always a hot cup of coffee and a warm conversation.

Rita will be missed by her children Louise (Murray), Doris (Spencer), Gerald (Margaret) and Michelle (Randy). Through her life, she welcomed nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one very special great-great-grandboy. She is also survived by her brothers Paul Landry, Dennis Landry, sister-in-law Betty Landry and numerous nieces and nephews.

Our loss is heaven’s gain.

Love you Mom.
