Douglas Gary Moffatt of Moosomin, Sask., beloved husband of Lee Moffatt, passed away at the Moosomin Hospital on July 24, 2017 in his 67th year.

Funeral service was held at St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Moosomin, Sask. on July 31, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Delta Kelly officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Gary was born October 9, 1950 to Enid (Mitchell) and Gerald Moffatt in Moosomin.

During school he worked fixing TV’s and radios for the local repair shop and later at Blanche’s Grill. He went to work for Federated Co-op Feed Mill for five years’ after which he started to work for TransCanada PipeLines for 25 years as a controls technician. When he retired at the age of 50 he opened a furniture and appliance store, which he later transferred over to his son and daughter-in -law. You would then see him delivering medication to Maryfield and Wawota for Pharmasave.

Failing health later stopped him from doing so. He would then be seen having coffee with friends where he always had a smile and corny jokes to tell.

While working at Blanche’s Grill he met and married Lee Fergusson. They began their life together in August, 1971 in Moosomin. They raised two children. Douglas Gordon and Crystal Dawn.

Gary enjoyed working and fixing anything he could, from TV’s, radios to lawn tractors. His passion was collecting antiques from furniture, transistor radios to old stationary engines which he had many of.

His pride and joy were his six grandchildren. He never missed a chance to see everything from school functions to dance, hockey, soccer and lacrosse travelling many miles to do so.

He could hardly wait for the snow to be gone, and you would find him at the cabin either sitting on the deck or fixing something.

In the winter he loved to travel to the trailer in Arizona where the heat was good for his health.
He will be missed by his wife Lee, son Douglas (Corrine Sheane) and daughter Crystal (Derrick Cameron). His grandchildren Rebecca, Tyler, Evan and Emily Moffatt. Tianna and Addison Cameron. Also the three family pet dogs.

Gary is survived by his sister Carol (Allan Niebergall) sister Penny (Ken Steptoe) and brother Brett (Susan). He is also survived by brother-in-law Larry Fergusson (Dianne) and sister-in-law Marie Vigfusson (Narfi), and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Gerald Lyle Moffatt, his mother Enid and stepfather Gordon Williams. One niece Wendy Steptoe. His mother-in-law and father-in-law Keith and Muriel Fergusson.

He leaves a great hole on our lives and will be missed by family and friends.
