"Norman" passed away at Southeast Integrated Care Centre with family at his side at the age of 90 years.

Norman was born at Knockertotian, R. D. Northern Ireland, the third child of Isaac and Eliza Jane McGonigal (nee Richardson).

Norman came to Canada with Isaac and Eliza Jane along with brother George and sisters Jean and Betty in 1929. They lived by Welwyn for a short time before moving to the Coppice Hill District, where he took all his schooling. After receiving his grade 7, he and George worked the farm for three years while Isaac was in the army.

Norman worked for several farmers: Blake Pearce, brother-in-law Andy Stevens, Alvin Young, Bill Dean, George Finn and George McCrindle at Fox warren MB, (1955). He also worked at Moosomin Machinery (1953) driving gravel truck for Norman or Bobby Fudge.

After he married Joyce King on July 4th 1954 he worked on the building of the #1 Highway, driving tractor with packer and Truck.
In 1957 he started with CPR at Wapella. He made $1.00 an hour. When he was laid off for the winters he worked for Gordon Abrahamson until he got on CPR full time.

In 1964 we moved to the farm along with Joyce’s parents Les and Helen King. Norman later bought Herb Lynne’s half section. Norman and Joyce still kept their jobs off the farm. They sold the farm in 1973 and moved to Fleming.

Norman and Joyce divorced in 1976. Norman married Rose Dingman November 7, 1981.

orman retired from the CPR June 1, 1992. Norman and Rose looked after the Fleming Cemetery from 1992 to 1997. Norman loved doing yard work and working with wood, watching hockey and baseball.

Norman was predeceased by his first wife Joyce King and son Kelly also grandson Justin LaPointe, parents Isaac and Eliza Jane McGonigal and father and mother-in-law Leslie and Helen King, also brothers: George, Ray, Melvin, Keith, Delbert, Derek, Glen, Dennis and sisters Marion, Joy and Doreen.

He leaves to mourn his wife Rose Dingman along with the children of the two families: Blaine (Debbie) McGonigal, Doug (Deb) McGonigal, Brad McGonigal, Karen (Claude) LaPointe, Dean (Alijandra) McGonigal, Warran Dingman, Rodney (Myrna) Dingman, Ashley (Debra) Dingman and many Grandchildren and Great- Grandchildren. Brothers: Lawrence, Reg (Barb), Dale (Carol) McGonigal, Sisters: Jean Roy, Betty Roy, Frances Empringham, Marilyn Hogarth, Violet (Alexander) Zachary.
