Ellen worked hard all her life farming. She also worked at the McAuley Post Office for two years and later worked as a Home Care provider until her retirement. She shared her talents as a 4-H Leader. She was a skilled homemaker growing large vegetable gardens and creating delicious family meals. She loved to laugh and have a good time. She was a wonderful ball player and some of her teammates became lifetime friends. She always made time for the local ball team McAuley Blazers and enjoyed sports on TV. Her life was full and busy as an active member of the I.O.O.F, Rebekahs Lodge and United Church; singing in the choir and acting as Secretary Treasurer. She loved flowers and filled her yards and gardens with their beauty and became an avid bird watcher. She was an adept seamstress and a knitting and crochet master, making afghans for all her grandchildren.

She and Delbert retired from the farm to McAuley in 1993. Ellen suffered a stroke in 2010. She spent 18 months in Reston, Man. moving to Elkhorn in January 2012. Ellen gave of herself to her home, her family and her community. Her sense of humor, wry wit and blunt remarks will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
