The family of Gwen Frape are deeply saddened to announce at the age of 91, the passing of their dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,sister and aunt on July 26, 2019 at Moosomin, Sask. after a short battle with cancer. She left us peacefully with family by her side.

Gwen was born on December 1, 1927 at the family farm north of Fleming. The oldest of six children born to Robert and Kathleen (Fraser) McEwen. She attended Fleming School achieving grade 10. After her father died at an early age, the family moved to Fleming where her mother bought the Red and White store.

She learned early to care for her siblings and was married at a young age. Archie and Gwen were maried on July 17, 1944 in Fleming and just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. They began farming on the Feader Place moving to the Edwards farm, eventually buying the Engdahl farm which was close to Stanley School.

Gwen was a hard working homemaker and contributed much to the daily work on the farm. She was very active in the UCW and church activities. Spiritual faith was constant in her life. Gwen was on the Home Care Board for many years and always a community worker.

Gwen was active in curling and golf, they loved to bonspiel and particularily the Elks spiels, attending SARM conventions and enjoyed dancing. They regularly attended grandchildrens hockey and ball games.

In 1973 Ron and Joyce joined the farming operation and with living in the same yard having grandchildren close was special. Family was of the utmost importance and Gwen embraced every family gathering and phone calls to keep in touch.

In 2008 they sold the farm and retired to Moosomin enjoying coffee with their friends.

Gwen will be deeply missed by her loving husban Archie, her two daughters Jean Baily and Blanche McRae (Dennis), and two sons Bob (Colleen), Ron (Joyce), 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, her sister Eileen McMullen brother Eddie McEwen and sister-in-law Audrey McEwen and numerous neices and nephews and countless friends.

Gwen was predeceased by son-in-law Doug Duke and Norm Baily, her parents Robert and Kathleen McEwen and in-laws Arthur and Lucy Frape, brothers Dick, Ross and Donnie, brother-in-law Jim McMullen, sister-in-law Florence McEwen. Also members of the Frape family Harry (Eileen), Margaret (Blake Pearce), Elsie Pastiuk, Clarence (Meagan), Walter (Eleanor), Howard (Merle), and Bert.

Funeral service was held at Moosomin United Church on July 31, 2019. Memorial donations may be made to the Moosomin South East Integrated Health Centre.
