Heading into the weekend, Moosomin with only $700 shy of third in the province for Smile Cookie sales on Friday, and Moosomin Tim Hortons owner Greg Crisanti said he was once again thrilled with how the community had shown its support.
This year Smile Cookie sales are raising money for KidSport Whitewood, Moosomin and area.
“It has been another fantastic week,” he said on Friday. “We’re on our fifth day of Smile Cookie week a we can’t thank everyone enough. The results have been fabulous.
“We’re happy to support a different charity this year, KidSport for Whitewoood, Moosomin and Area. We’re right on the edge of third place for the most Smile Cookies sold out of a single location in all of Saskatchewan.
“Friday is usually our busiest day of the week, and we’re looking forward to a strong finish on Saturday and Sunday with lovely weather.”
Cristanti says his team at Tim Hortons loves Smile Cookie week.
“Our teams love it. Our volunteers love it. Although it is really busy, it’s not a stressful busy, we’re always putting a smile on people’s faces. The cookies taste delicious because they’re so fresh. Staying busy and being busy for a great cause is what it’s all about, and giving back to our community.”
Why does he think Moosomin does so well with the fundraiser each year?
“Year over year, it’s just our community. They come together,” he says.
“Obviously, the cookies taste fantastic, but it’s more than that. It’s our team in the store and then our customers coming through, as well as the businesses and organizations that get behind many events, not just Smile Cookie, but other events that we have in our community. We tend to have everyone’s back, and when everyone pulls together for a company or a charity in need, it’s just wonderful.”
Crisanti says it feels good to be able to give back during Smile Cookie week.
“It’s great. It’s something little that we can do. We do really enjoy challenging ourselves year over year, how we can do better for our charities and our organizations.
“It definitely puts Moosomin on the map. People are always reaching out to me at our corporate events, asking ‘what are you guys doing over there in Moosomin and Saskatchewan?’ And they tend to follow suit, because of what we’re able to pull off in our small community.”
Crisanti said he was looking forward to seeing how the week finished out for sales.
“Usually Thursday and Friday are our busiest days. The weather looks great, and Thursday’s been our busiest day so far. So we’re looking forward to seeing what numbers are coming today and for the rest of the weekend.
“I made a quick phone call to (Moosomin Tim Hortons Manager) Cherrie early this morning to put the pedal down, and we’re gonna push hard here in the next couple of days, so we’ll see what happens.”
