Celebration Ford gives $10,000 to Rocanville pool

A Moosomin business has donated $10,000 to Rocanville’s pool refurbishment.
On Tuesday, Nov. 5, Tyler Thorn of Celebration Ford in Moosomin, presented a cheque for $10,000 for the indoor pool full- refurbishment in Rocanville.
“Celebration is very excited to help sponsor the new pool project in Rocanville with a Ruby sponsorship,” said Thorn.
“The community of Rocanville is the second largest community in our local market. We have a lot of customers in Rocanville, and some current and past employees that are from Rocanville. It’s important to Celebration Ford that we give back, and support the communities that support us.”
Thorn said the new pool is a major project that he feels is deserving of more regional support.
“I think it’s a really important project, not just for the community of Rocanville, but for the region.
“Businesses outside of Rocanville should be supporting the project if they are able and have customers or employees that live in Rocanville.”
He pointed out that the pool will benefit people across a wide area.
“People from a wide radius around Rocanville will enjoy the pool once it is open, so i think it’s important that businesses, and perhaps even local municipal governments around the area considering financially supporting the project. It’s that important to the whole region that local governments should look at supporting it. It really is a regional asset, like the airport or the hospital.”
Currently, the two closest indoor swimming pools to the region are located in Yorkton and Brandon.
“You want a place where people are happy to live, and if you want people to live here, you have to have the things they want to do. An indoor pool that you can use all year round will help attract people to the area.” Thorn said.
Rocanville recreation director Andrea Logan said it’s great to see the support coming in for the pool.
“It’s nice to feel supported by the region, not just the town of Rocanville,” she said.
“There are people who stop by regularly just to check in and see how we are progressing.”
“Donations have definitely been coming in now that you can actually see progress on the pool,” said Tanya Strandlund of the pool fundraising committee. “You can see things above the ground level now, it is so much more exciting. There’s a buzz.”
“The contributions make this project possible,” she added.
With additional donations and funding, the group behind Rocanville’s new indoor pool hopes to open their doors this spring.
