There’s lots on the agenda for the next Moosomin Chamber of Commerce meeting set for Tuesday, May 20.

Lisl Gunderman and Darrell Hunter—the Alberta couple that took on the challenge of restoring Dr. Gerry Galloway’s 1947 Fudge Snow Sedan—will be speaking at the meeting. This is a real regional story of collaboration and history as the snow plane was a vital transportation link for Dr. Galloway in the Oxbow and Alameda areas, was manufactured in Moosomin at the Fudge Factory, and found in pieces at the Elkhorn Auto Museum by Gunderman (Dr. Galloway’s granddaughter) and Hunter. The duo will talk about the next steps in the restoration process and how people in Moosomin might get a chance to see this unique machine. They are also looking for opportunities to display the snowplane in the area.

Kyle Jeannot will also be providing an update on the Living Skies Come Alive fireworks competition, which is returning to the Moosomin Regional park during the August Long Weekend. This year the competition will be between Saskatchewan and Alberta. A market and food trucks will also be part of the festivities.

Also bringing an update will be a spokesperson from the Moosomin Communities in Bloom committee with their plans for 2025. This year’s theme is Edible Gardens, and Moosomin will be competing at the national level after winning five blooms provincially last year. This year, the RM of Moosomin will be joining the beautification campaign, which is no stranger to group collaboration as the Town of Moosomin, Pipestone Hills Golf Club and Moosomin & District regional Park have worked together since returning to the program in 2023.

Playfair Daycare will also be doing a presentation at the Chamber meeting and will have some digital renderings available showing the new daycare being built south of MacLeod Elementary School.

There will be more added to the agenda in the coming weeks. The meeting starts at 11:45 am at the Canalta Hotel. Lunch is provided, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Also, Southeast College will make a presentation at the June meeting of the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce on how it intends to move forward in Moosomin.
