Just a few weeks away from graduation, two members of the McNaughton High School 2021 graduating class were involved in a vehicle rollover. One student lost her life in the rollover and the other was seriously injured.

Around 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, Esterhazy RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover on Highway 8 south of Langenburg. The vehicle was travelling south on Highway 8 when it left the roadway.

There were two occupants inside the vehicle. One 17-year-old, Colleen McPhee from Wapella, was declared deceased. The other, also a 17-year-old McNaughton High School student, Chenoa Dingman, was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries. Currently there is no update on her condition.

An RCMP Collision Reconstruction Analyst is investigating.

Counsellors are on site at McNaughton High School today to provide support for students and staff.

Borderland Co-op in Moosomin, where both students worked, is also providing support for its staff, and the food store in Moosomin is closing at 7 pm Friday evening to give staff time to grieve.
