Kingston Midstream donated $17,699 to Moosomin Parks and Recreation to help with costs of the new pickleball court that will be built at Bradley Park.

Dena Bachorcik, Community Investment Co-ordinator with Kingston Midstream, and Tammy Davies, admin at Kingston’s Carlyle office say this project was a great opportunity for them to donate.

“We only accept a few applications for donations per year,” said Bachorcik. “When the application was submitted for the pickle ball court, we knew it was the right fit for what we contribute too. It’s the kind of project that benefits the entire community, and the community members have a lot of support around this project. We have donated $17,699 to help cover the cost of the gates, fencing, and the wind screens.”

Bill Thorn says he is excited about the pickleball project.

“We are going to have four courts they will be 100 ft long and 60 ft deep, we will also supply the nets and paddles so people can just come out and play without having to buy all the equipment. This project is going to cost about $70-80,000 in total. The Town of Moosomin is covering the site work which costs about $20,000, we have the donation from Kingston Midstream, and we are starting fundraising today for $40,000 to cover the asphalt, nets, and sealant for the courts.”

Tim Hamilton and Shirley Davidson say pickleball will be a great addition to Bradley Park.

“Pickle Ball is a great way to meet new people, it’s good exercise, any age can play, and have fun at their own ability and skill level. No equipment is needed so people can just come and play whenever they feel like it. These courts will be a great addition to Moosomin and it benefits anyone in town who wants to play.”

Thorn says they have more exciting things coming.

“We will put on clinics so people can learn how to play and we will also have an official pickleball team. We are hoping to have this project completed in September 2024 and we can start using the courts then.”
