Plans are in place for Redvers to be a contender for Kraft Hockeyville 2025.
The Redvers & District Recreation Centre provides the community and surrounding area with a top-grade facility for sports, leisure and recreation, as well as promoting sportsmanship and community engagement.
The Kraft Hockeyville contest runs Canada-wide with a grand prize of $250,000 for arena upgrades as well as three runner up prizes of $25,000.
“Our facility isn’t new by any means, so there are countless ways to use the funds if chosen,” says Redvers Rec Director, Nadyne Pryde.
“Our rolled roofing is in desperate need of replacement and that is a hefty price. Our ice plant is not new either. The matting in the dressing rooms will need to be upgraded within the next couple of years.
“If we win the big prize or one of the smaller prizes, I know for certain the money will be put to good use and very much appreciated.
“The generations of families that use our facility is quite amazing to see—you will see a great-grandpa or great-grandma here watching the great-grandkids play at the same arena they once played on. Our senior and minor hockey teams share a logo and a vibe, spirit and heart.
“The Redvers Rockets are always a force to be reckoned with. We have one Senior team, three U7 teams, two U9 teams and one each of U11, U13, U15, and U18 teams. We have many league and provincial banners hanging on our walls.
We have retired Rockets coaching our future Rockets, and retired Rockets cheering on all our Rockets.”
Plans are in place in the community, public library and school to rally together and get the votes in.
“If you are in the area, please stop in at the Rec Centre and myself as well as staff can assist with the quick and easy voting process or call (306) 452-7443.” Pryde says. “It is easy to join the rally and vote for our community rink.
