Rae’s life story began with her parents—Zetta and Curly on February 19, 1933 in Fleming, Saskatchewan.
Her parents fueled her passion for the Creative Arts and her free whimsical spirit—which led her to leave home at a young age to pursue further education and study music. She was privileged to have studied piano under Ms. Gladys Angley (Regina) and Sergei Tarnowsky (Los Angeles).
After leaving Los Angeles, Rae travelled to Seattle where she attended the University of Washington and obtained her Bachelor of Education degree. She taught school for many years, which she enjoyed immensely.
Rae was an accomplished musician. For three years she played piano for “Up With People” and toured throughout North America and parts of Europe. She loved entertaining and performed in singing groups and musical theatre with The Silver Stars, The Notables, Music Matinee, and The Royal Troubadours in Calgary where she established many lasting friendships.
Rae leaves her sister Marjorie Dann, many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends to celebrate her life as she went to Heaven on May 15, 2022.
A private funeral service was held on June 1, 2022 at the Fleming Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to be held in Calgary at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fleming Community Organization (FCO) in care of the Town of Fleming, Saskatchewan S0G 1R0.
