It is with great sadness that we announce that Lawrence James Crawford of Moosomin, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the age of 90.

Lawrence was born in 1934 to James and Christie Crawford on the original Iona District homestead settled in 1884 by his Scottish ancestors.

Lawrence leaves behind his wife of 65 years Corinne; their children Linda (Brad) Lund, Jim (Lois), Cheryl (Vern) Windrim, Glen (Damaris), Grant (Trina); 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.

Lawrence grew up playing baseball and hockey on Iona District teams and he enjoyed curling and golf. Singing held a special place in his heart, especially Scottish songs. He was a member of the Bethel United Church choir, the singing group “Bea and the Boys,” and he sang at Robby Burns Days as well as many other community events.

Lawrence took over the family farm in 1958. Farming was his passion. He loved working on the land, tending to his livestock and being active in many ways in the community. He believed that farming, despite its hardships and disappointments, was the most honest and honourable way a man could spend his days on this earth.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date in Moosomin.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lawrence may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, the Moosomin South East Integrated Care Centre, the Canadian Cancer Society, or to a charity of your choice.
