Doris passed away in the early hours of September 22 at the Good Samaritan Village – Park Meadows in Lethbridge, Alberta, with her family by her side.
She is predeceased by her parents Anthony and Ella Scott, her husband Gordon Whelpton, her son Kevin Whelpton, and her brother Gilford (Lois) Scott.
She is survived by her son Douglas (Hayley) Whelpton, daughter-in-law Rene Whelpton (Darcy Rambold), grandchildren Carissa-Lynn (Blair) Stretch, Colton Whelpton (Charlotte Taverner-Whelpton), Caitlin Whelpton (Adam Van Wijk), A.J. Whelpton (Emma Dering), Melissa Whelpton, Stephen Whelpton, and Mark Whelpton.
She also had seven great-grandchildren whom she loved very much and they loved her: Selah, Jasper, Malachi and Ira Stretch, Finnley and Arlo Whelpton, and Adelaide Whelpton.
Doris was born near Flamboro Centre, Ontario, which is near Hamilton, on April 15, 1926.
On April 3, 1965, Doris and Gordon Whelpton were wed in the Flambourough Baptist Church and settled in Moosomin, Saskatchewan.
She became involved with the Moosomin Baptist Church and served there faithfully for over 55 years.
Ten months after arriving in Moosomin, Doris and Gordon welcomed their first son Douglas and 21 months later, along came Kevin.
She loved and adored her children, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The impact she has had on them will be felt in the generations to come. She will be missed so much by so many of us.
A Celebration of Doris’s life will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 2 pm at Moosomin Baptist Church, 1117 Main Street, Moosomin, Saskatchewan.
