Anne Emily Hutchinson was born on September 22, 1933, to parents Adolf and Olga Bock, the fifth child of eight children. She passed away on August 23, 2024, at the Deer View Lodge, Wawota, Sask., with family by her side.
Anne grew up in the Wapella District taking her schooling at Cranbrook and Kendalton and completing Grade 11 in Wapella. After finishing school, she moved to Regina to work as a long distance telephone operator for a year and then worked at the Rocanville Co-op store as a cashier.
On December 7, 1957 she married Gerry Hutchinson. They started a life together on the Greystone House Farm which later became Hilltop Seeds Farm. They lived there for 48 years while raising a family and expanding their farming practices with their sons.
Anne was an avid gardener, growing a huge garden and tending to her flowers. She loved to bake, especially bread and buns. In the winter months she curled with the seniors and watched her grandchildren play hockey. She also found time to read an enjoyable book. Handmade quilts were gifted to grandchildren.
Later in life Anne and Gerry traveled to Hawaii, Mexico, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and the Northwest Territories. The last trip taken was in 2010 to attend the wedding of their granddaughter in Cuba.
In 2005 they moved to Rocanville to enjoy their new home and retirement. Even though they had moved to town they still took interest in the farming. Anne was a member of the St. Paul’s United Church and volunteered at the Rocanville Thrift Store.
Attending her grandchildren’s activities was also important.
In 2018 she moved to the Pipestone Villas in Moosomin where she resided until July 2024. She enjoyed playing cards, shuffleboard, and coffee times with her new friends.
She has joined her husband Gerry, beloved son Cameron and her siblings Mary, Olga, Herb, Eugenia, Helene, and Ed.
She will be remembered by her five children: Valerie McAuley, Bruce (Angela), Randy (Sheree Clark), Sandra (Wayne) Logan, Fred, daughter-in-law Pam and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also leaves to cherish her memory, her brother Fred Bock, sister-in-law Sheila Sample and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on October 12 at the Rocanville Nutrien Hall with Dawn Wilson officiating. Lunch catered by Lana Wiebe followed the service. Interment was at Webster’s cemetery.
