With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Grandpa, Uncle, Cousin—Ronald Rodney Marshall, born September 30, 1932. He was welcomed into his final resting place on January 10, 2025. Ron was the last surviving sibling of eight children born to James and Mabel Marshall of Manson, Manitoba.

Ron brought immense joy, warmth, and guidance into our lives with his genuinely kind loving heart and honorable principles.

Ron was a successful gravel business owner/farmer in the Manson, Manitoba area for years. He married Darline who came as a package with five children—hence he had an instant family that grew in grand proportions.

Only the youngest child Lisa moved to the Manson farm at age 10. She was raised there and went to Nursing School in Brandon and married Phil. Together with their children Santana and Taylor, they all had the good blessing of Ron’s acceptance, love, and encouragement throughout their lives. The Grandkids were super special to him—such a proud Grandpa! There will be a huge hole in our hearts not having him in our presence going forward.

Ron got immense joy out of his white Samoyed dogs over the years—Spochy, Tasha and Peeky. In his retired years he loved horses, John Deere tractors, maintaining an immaculate yard/acreage, driving his GMC truck all over, sitting in the sun room watching the birds and hummingbirds and hanging out with the guys at coffee row.

The hardest time for Ron and when he lost his zest was when he had to give up his driver’s license and hence his freedom due to increased effects from his struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

We extend our warmest gratitude and thanks to all the special caregivers at the Whispering Pine wing of the Moosomin Nursing Home and to Dr. Kerkhoff for the excellent care and support provided to Ron during his last chapter.

Special thanks to Erwin Findlay for being a great, caring friend to Ron and our family.

We will have a memorial service for Ron this coming spring on a warm sunny day to celebrate Ron’s life as per his wishes.

We will cherish always all the wonderful memories that he gifted to us by being part of our lives.
