Darlene Faye Lewis of Burnaby, British Columbia, beloved companion of her dear friend Max Bonneau, passed away at the Burnaby General Hospital, Burnaby, British Columbia on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the age of 67 years.
It is with great sadness that we announce Darlene’s passing following a brief and unexpected illness. Darlene was born at Virden, Manitoba, the proud daughter of her parents John and Lena Lewis. Darlene spent her childhood years growing up on the family farm in the McAuley District of Manitoba surrounded by three older brothers and her many friends.
She received her education at both the Rutherglen School in McAuley and Virden Collegiate in Virden, Manitoba. Upon graduating Grade 12 Darlene headed west to the Vancouver, B.C. area looking for work, determined to create a life of her own.
She was successful in that adventure, spending the rest of her life residing in the Burnaby, B.C. area and working for various companies associated with the global shipping industry. Darlene was a dedicated hard-working individual, someone who took pride in her work. Darlene enjoyed being gainfully employed and was still working at the time of her unexpected illness.
She never forgot her roots and returned to the McAuley area on a regular basis over the years to renew acquaintances with both family and friends.
Darlene was predeceased by her parents John and Lena Lewis. She is lovingly remembered by her dear friend and companion Max Bonneau; brothers Ross (Jo-Anne) Lewis of Regina, Saskatchewan; Dale (Debbie) Lewis of McAuley, Manitoba; Donald Lewis of Moosomin, Saskatchewan; nephews Jeff (Jamie) Lewis and Brian (Amy) Lewis of Regina, Saskatchewan, Scott (Nicole) Lewis of Hastings, Michigan, USA; niece Heather (Richard) Neill of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and great nephews and nieces: Marin, Shaun, Rowan, Maeve, Grace, John, Bailey, Kennedy, Colt, Rylee and Sydnee.

A formal funeral is not being held in accordance with Darlene’s wishes. A private family interment will occur at the McAuley Cemetery, McAuley, Manitoba at a future date yet to be determined. A social gathering to allow for family and friends to share good wishes and exchange fond memories of Darlene will take place following that interment.
For those who so desire, memorial donations in Darlene’s memory may be made to the Moosomin & District Healthcare Foundation for the CT Scanner, P.O. Box 1470, Moosomin SK., S0G 3N0.
