The world grew a little quieter with the passing of Gib Lloyd, a man who filled his days—and the lives of those around him—with humor, kindness, and unwavering love.

Born on July 9, 1936, Gib lived a life rich with meaning and purpose. His life was defined by the love and pride he had for his family, who were always at the center of everything he did.

For more than 60 years, he shared life with his beloved wife, Doreen—a partnership built on love, laughter, a daily rye, and the occasional eyeroll (usually hers). Together they raised three daughters— Roxanne, Kelly, and Nicole. Gib loved his girls with all his being. He taught them the value of hard work, education, and resilience, through the steady, consistent way he lived his life and the occasional speech (if you knew Gib, you know about his speeches!)

He never once felt slighted that he didn’t have sons; in fact, he opined that raising daughters required more skill anyway. With that said, he was overjoyed when his girls got married and brought Murray, Kevin, and Jason into his life. He gained the sons he never knew he was missing. Gib loved those boys for caring for his girls and for balancing out the male/female ratio in the family.

But when the grandkids arrived, something in Gib’s heart shifted into an even higher gear. His love, already strong, grew exponentially with the arrival of Colton, Blaize, Kendal, and Jadyn. They unlocked a whole new level of joy in him—the kind that comes with hugs sticky from popsicles, stories told for the hundredth time, and the quiet pride of watching generations grow. That joy deepened as he watched them mature into adulthood, marry, and welcome Gabby, Tanya, and Coleton into the family he cherished so dearly.

Just when he thought life couldn’t get any better, Gib became a Great-Grandpa. His daughters often remarked that Milly, Chet, and Brooks brought a noticeable “pep to his step.” His tenderness, patience, and awe for the little ones was unparalleled. Alas, Gib’s “favorite daughter” had to concede that she had been lovingly dethroned as his number one by the Great Grands.
Gib was known for his quick wit, mischievous smile, intelligence, and the way he could turn everyday moments into stories worth retelling. He carried strength, kindness, and humor in equal measure.

Though he is no longer Earth side, the legacy he leaves is woven into the lives of those he loved: the values he taught, the laughter he sparked, and the family who will continue to hear his voice reminding them to work hard, stick together, and keep their sense of humor.

He will be dearly missed, but his spirit—and his stories—will live on for generations.

There will be a celebration of life for family and friends in the spring.
