In Loving Memory of George Potter.

George Potter was born in 1930 at Wynyard, Sask. to William and Edith Annie Potter, one of seven siblings. In 1953, his father’s business sense prompted a move to Balcarres where he and his oldest brother Ralph owned and operated the hotel. It was there where he met his wonderful wife, Nora Gottinger. They were married in 1955 and raised two boys, Daryl and Perry.

In 1969, the family moved to Esterhazy where George served as a Personnel Manager at Kleysen Trucking for 18 years. In that time, the Potters enjoyed many years having fun with friends and family at the lake, boating, fishing, and hunting. His interest in history took him travelling to many museums to see vintage cars and planes. He got his pilot’s license, spent time motorcycling, quadding into his 90’s and driving for coffee with friends in his beloved truck. No matter what you asked him about—plumbing, electrical, cars, or life in general—he always had input.

Despite the loss of Nora in 1993 and his son Perry in 2023, George’s fighting spirit never wavered. He took on life’s challenges and made many memories along the way, his eyes smiling as he shared them.

George passed away at the age of 95 at the Esterhazy Centennial Care Home.

He is survived by his son Daryl (Cindy), daughter-in-law Beata, five grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, and many extended family members.
