Koleen Pillipow of Kenaston, Sasakatchewan, beloved wife of Marvin Pillipow, passed away on Sunday January 4, 2026 at the Saskatoon Royal University Hospital. Koleen Charlotte Palmer was born on July 20, 1958 in Moosomin Union Hospital to Nelson and Georgina Palmer. She was the youngest of five children, a little sister for Roy, Lila, Bill and Calvin. Koleen grew up on the Palmer farm in the RM of Rocanville.
She was a true farm girl, helping her mom with their large garden, preparing big meals and sneaking sugar cubes to the horses.
Koleen attended Rocanville School. She played clarinet with the Rocanville Community Band (which later became the School Band) and had the opportunity to perform with them at half-time on “Rocanville Day” at Taylor Field in Regina in 1971 during a Saskatchewan Roughrider game. After graduating from Rocanville High School in 1976, Koleen travelled to Ontario with a National Farmers Union Youth Exchange Group.
Koleen moved to Kenaston spring of 1979 where she met Marvin Pillipow. Koleen and Marvin were married on November 24, 1979. They farmed in the Kenaston area. Marvin and Koleen were blessed with four children: Tammy, Krystle, Jennifer and Darcy.
Koleen enjoyed a variety of careers and especially cherished the years she spent working with the Kenaston Super Draft. She loved volunteering her time with the Zid Club and the Anglican Church. Family and friends were an important part of her life. She especially enjoyed hosting Ukrainian Christmas, spending time with her grandchildren and visiting over coffee with friends. She also found joy in the quieter moments; building jigsaw puzzles, enjoying board games and playing cards. She enjoyed taking memorable camping trips and keeping her own large garden tended to.
Koleen will be forever remembered for her huge heart, laughter and guidance and will be greatly missed. Koleen is lovingly remembered by husband, Marvin; children, Tammy (Dustin), Krystle, Jennifer (David) and Darcy; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Deagan, Mikayla, Hayden, Ethen, Johnathon and Macklin; brothers, Bill(Marilyn) and Calvin; in-laws, Marilyn (Myrle), Les and Susan (Frank); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Nelson and Georgina; brother, Roy; sister, Lila and father-in-law and mother-law, Gordon and Rose.
