
Bill was born in Selby Yorkshire, England to Walter and Matilda Jackson. He was the second son in a family of six boys and three girls.
Bill came to Canada in 1927 with his parents and three brothers, Eric, Herbert and Philip. They first lived in the Maryfield district then moved to the Riga-Kelso district in 1929.
Bill joined the armed forces in 1941 with the 101st anti-aircraft battery. Their job was to shoot down enemy planes. Bill served in Germany, Holland, France and Italy.
While in the army Bill won the welter weight boxing championship. Sports remained a passion with Bill but baseball was his first passion and he excelled at it.
Bill came home in 1945. He farmed until he sold the land in 1989. Bill retired to Moosomin where he became the caretaker of the skating rink, then the curling rink.
Bill also took care of his mom and dad, doing the heavy jobs and running errands for them and then mom and dad passed away.
Bill was predeceased by his dad and mom, brothers Eric, and Herbert, sister Doreen, sisters-in-law Margie and Sharon, and two nieces Fae and Sheree.
Bill is survived by his brothers Philip, Walter, Harvey (Yvonne) Jackson, sisters Phyllis (Len) Schmidt, Patsy (Rene) Jacques and 33 nieces and nephews.
