Dorothy was born September 26, 1928 in Kirkhampton, England. At the age of six months, along with parents Charlie and Lily Webber and her two sisters Edna and Joan, the family traveled by boat to Canada landing in Halifax on April 12, 1929. They then travelled to Regina by train and then Moosomin, and finally to the Pipestone Valley where they settled to farm. There the fourth daughter Ida was born, completing the family.

Dorothy grew up a farm girl and went to school at Woodlands.

Dorothy married Secord Sheane on October 18, 1955 and soon after followed three boys: Harold (Melody), Ken (Lucille) and Dennis. They settled on the family farm by Fairlight.

After Secord passed away on December 21, 1987 Dorothy remained living on the family farm with her youngest son Dennis. Dorothy kept herself busy gardening, preparing meals, taking pictures, being with family, going on numerous outings with her sisters and going to Winnipeg to the casino with Vi and Roy. Dorothy’s health began to fail in 2006 but she remained on the farm with assistance from homecare.

With continued failing health and mobility, Dorothy could no longer stay on the farm and moved into Deer View Lodge in Wawota on August 28, 2012 where she received excellent care, made many friends, and enjoyed activities including bingo and the odd outing. With deteriorating health, Dorothy was placed in palliative care until her peaceful passing on February 22, 2015.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Charlie and Lily Webber, her husband Secord Sheane, her sister Edna Buck, father-in-law and mother-in-law; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She leaves to mourn her sons Harold (Melody), Ken (Lucille) and Dennis; grandchildren Carmen (Kris) Bernstrom, Amanda (Chris) Sheane, Candace Sheane, Karla (Chris) Bell and Christopher Sheane; nine great-grandchildren; her sisters Joan and Ida; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dorothy’s family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Deer View Lodge for the excellent care she received during her stay in Wawota. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Deer View Lodge, Wawota, Saskatchewan, in memory of Dorothy.
