
Michael Morrison Gadd, late of Saskatoon, passed away at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on March 16, 2018 at the age of 76.
Mike was born in Sedgefield, County Durham, England on February 28, 1942 to Champ and Paddy Gadd.
Mike went to teacher’s college in Sheffield, where he met his wife, Jean Marsden. Mike and Jean were married on August 8, 1964 in Jean’s home village of Heskin, Lancashire.
Mike and Jean started in teaching careers in Sheffield before emigrating to Canada in the summer of 1967. They settled in Wapella, Saskatchewan and embarked on long-term teaching careers in the area which they both continued with until retirement.
Mike was a middle-school and high-school teacher and he also coached volleyball and basketball. He enjoyed watching sports, especially hockey, and he loved to golf while he was able to do so. Later in life, Mike took great pleasure in becoming an accomplished bridge player. Throughout his life, Mike was an avid reader and he also enjoyed travelling throughout Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
Mike is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean Gadd; by his sister Josephine Cox and his brother Brian Gadd; by his daughter Kerry Townley-Smith (Paul) and grandchildren Emma, Isabelle, Simon, Thomas, and William; by his son Simon (June Christ) and grandchildren Jordan and Chayce. Mike was pre-deceased by his parents, Champ and Paddy Gadd and his brother Timothy.
At Mike’s request, no public Funeral Service will be held. A private service will be held in Saskatoon.
