
Allan William Thomson of Elkhorn was born on November 6, 1927, the first of three children of Jim and Florence Thomson. He was born on the family farm in the Sanderson School District near Cromer, Man. Allan was foremost a farmer, learning to work horses at a young age, keeping a team of horses and some cattle and farming grain land all his life.
On November 7, 1951, he married Kathleen Mary Paull of the Woodville district near Elkhorn. They farmed on the SE 4-11-29, in the RM of Wallace, Man. They had two children Bill and Judy.
Allan passed away at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre in Moosomin on May 29, 2013. Funeral services were held on June 5, 2013, at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Virden with Father Geoffrey Angeles officiating. Interment followed at the Virden Cemetery.
Allan was predeceased by his wife Kathleen; his parents Jim Thomson and Florence and Wendell Sararas; his parents-in-law John and Hannah Paull; brothers-in-law Glen Armstrong, Jim Leonard, and Bill Paull; sister-in-law Irene Paull; and his nephew Perry Thomson.
He is survived by his son Bill; daughter Judy; five grandchildren Jonathan, Geordie, Nancy, Maryann and Nora Lynne Gibson; his sister Jean Armstrong; his brother and sister-in-law Bob and Shirley Thomson; his sister-in-law Margaret Leonard; his brother-in-law Ed Paull Sr and many nieces, nephews and friends.
